This direction references an abstract bird symbolizing the Azerbaijan legend of “The Dove Bird of Peace”. The elegant curves are influenced by the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre. The warm, vibrant colors, in addition to the abstract shapes refer to Baku being a rising Phoenix in the Land of Fire. The blue modern type and complimentary color palette reference Baku’s geographic location on the Caspian Sea and show the elemental balance of fire and water. All of these elements come together in a mark that is fitting to the region while also being dynamic and adaptable in the branding process.
Baku is often referred to as the “Land of Fire and Silk,” it’s fitting that both elements are represented. This direction also references the calligraphy and traditional patterning of the region. Reflecting passion, movement and energy, the warm palette shows that Baku is in a state of positive transformation.
