Urban Forest Project
In Spring 2010, The Urban Forest Project planted banners by local artists and designers on light poles throughout Toledo. Each banner used the form or metaphor for the tree to make a powerful visual statement about the environment. Together they created a forest of thoughtful images in the urban landscape and raise awareness of sustainability and youth mentoring.
The Sky is Not Falling, Yet.
Chicken Little’s fears were proven to be unfounded. And while we should be careful as a society not to subscribe to some global “falling sky” mass hysteria, we should be aware of our own impact on the planet. Here, I’ve taken the metaphor of the acorn—which represented imminent doom in the classic fable—to instead focus on its true role as a seed to the oak tree, thus representing the new growth and sustainability that we can all affect upon our planet.
